Former German Football International Joins Host Sean Garnier on EX Sports’ Podball Episode 3

EX Sports welcomed a very special guest for the third installment of its Podball celebrity podcast series. Former German football international Dennis Aogo joined series host and street football superstar Sean Garnier on the rooftop of the View At the Palm overlooking Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah to talk about everything from Germany’s disappointing results in the FIFA World Cup to Dennis’s outstanding performance in the Urbanball Trickshot Challenge.

Having retired from professional football in 2020, Dennis played in the German Bundesliga for Freiburg, Hamburg, Schalke 04 and Stuttgart in a career spanning 402 games. Born in Germany to a German mother and Nigerian father, Dennis was eligible to play international football for either Germany or Nigeria. However, he committed to the country of his birth and went on to win the UEFA European U21 Championship with Germany in 2009 before earning 12 full caps for the German national team, including appearances at the World Cup in 2010, where he won a third-place medal.

During the podcast, Dennis chatted with host, Sean Garnier, on a wide variety of football-related topics, including how he first started playing street football as a child, his experiences growing up, the role his Nigerian heritage played in his life, and Germany’s early elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Dennis then had an opportunity to put his disappointment at Germany’s poor results in Qatar behind him as he took up the Urbanball Trickshot Challenge. At the end of each podcast, each guest is invited to play the Urbanball game demo. The guest who has the highest score at the end of the series then wins $10,000 USD to be donated to a charity of their choice. Despite Sean’s best efforts to distract Dennis by asking him several questions, the former German international demonstrated his winning mentality as he scored 3,480 to take first place on the leaderboard, just 10 points above previous leader, Msdossary.
